Module 7

This week's readings discussed how to use technology for assessments.  It is very important to provide students with formative assessments.  According to Bauer, "the goal of formative assessments is to allow the teacher and student to adapt their learning approaches to better achieve learning goals (p.133)."  This will allow the students to achieve their learning goals when they have their summative assessments.  This week I learned that we can create quizzes on google forms.  This is so valuable to know because I currently use google classroom.  On google classroom, I post mp3's of their parts and they have to sing their part and turn it in on there.  I do formative and summative assessments on there.  Google forms is a nice addition to that.  Flubaroo is also a great tool to use to make quizzes and grades them automatically.  I would definitely like to try that out as well next school year.
In order to be more professionally productive, I use the outlook calendar that is linked to my school's e-mail address.  It's similar to Google Calendar in that you can share it with others and invite others to your event/meeting.  I also use the app called Remind.  It allows you to text students and parents without giving out your phone number.  I am able to remind them about performances and other important events.  Check it out here: https://www.remind.com/ or download the app to your smart phone.
I also enjoyed learning how to make a Newsletter for my students on Google Docs.  It was fun designing it and I think I will use it in the future.  This week I also used Google Slides.  I used Google Slides a few years ago before I was able to get Smart Notebook for my laptop.  I love that Google Slides will always be on your gmail account because I typically upload my Smart Notebook Slides onto my Flashdrive and use that.  If I forget my flash drive then I do not have my slides for the day.  That is the benefit of Google Slides.
